Last week I introduced the "Sweet Readers" Program to the kids and they were super, duper excited to get started on those Smartie words! I love it when they get excited about learning:) Can you believe that there were 2 smartie students that were able to master all 15 sight words in the first set!!! There were several others that were so close, I just know that they will get it this week;) Congratulations to Ben and Trey for being our first set of SWEET Readers.
On Friday, September 6th, we celebrated Grandparent's Day by inviting our grandparents to lunch. We had a great turnout! The kids absolutely loved having someone special to eat lunch with:)
Another school year has begun and I have another great bunch of kids! They have been working so hard the last two weeks on learning rules and procedures and they are really starting to get the hang of first grade:) Last week we reviewed vowels and consonants. To help us remember the names of the vowels, we learned a little tune. Check out our video...I am pretty sure they have mastered the vowels of the alphabet!
My name is Amber and I am a first grade teacher at Mountainburg Elementary. This will be my eighth year of teaching and I can't imagine doing anything else! I graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith in 2007 with a BS in Early Childhood Education. I recently received my MS in Educational Technology. I have taught first grade, a 2nd/3rd split, and third grade. I was born and raised in Mountainburg and will always be a DRAGON at heart!
