We have 4 more students that have earned their SMARTIE award! I am so proud of how hard the students have been working on their sight words:)
Trenton, WJW, Jayce, and Eli
Matthew, Kaylee, and Tanika have really been working hard. They were able to fluently read our second set of sight words, so they got their Blow Pop award:)
We had some special guests for lunch on Friday, September 14th! Several grandparents were able to attend our Grandparents Day lunch and eat a delicious burger with their special first grader:)
Check out these little "smarties" Noah and Elizabeth were the first two students to learn our first 15 sight words! Way to go:) Sight words are really important in first grade. These tricky words cannot be sounded out so the students are learning to recognize them in order to read/write them fluently.
My name is Amber and I am a first grade teacher at Mountainburg Elementary. This will be my eighth year of teaching and I can't imagine doing anything else! I graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith in 2007 with a BS in Early Childhood Education. I recently received my MS in Educational Technology. I have taught first grade, a 2nd/3rd split, and third grade. I was born and raised in Mountainburg and will always be a DRAGON at heart!
