100 Days Smarter

Today was the 100th day of school!!! It was quite a crazy, busy day...just how we like it:) The first thing we did this morning was check out all the neat 100 projects. The kids were so proud of their collections.

Throughout the day, we read several 100th day stories and worked on some special 100 activities. One of our projects was a 100 necklace. The students sorted fruit loops into ten groups of ten and then strung them on a necklace. After that, we make 100th day hats (or crowns as the kids called them). We even had a 100th day sweet and salty snack, but the weather didn't cooperate with our snack time. Some strong storms caused us to have to leave our snack and take shelter in the hallway:( Luckily we were able to pack up our snack and take it home!

Sweet Readers Catch Up

Here is a quick catch-up on all the SWEET readers and their many awards since returning to school:)

Happy New Year!

Where has the time gone? I can't believe it's already the end of January!!! At the beginning of January we read a book about New Year's resolutions. After reading, I challenged the students to think of a resolution for themselves - something that they wanted to get better at or improve upon. Each student created a self-portrait to go along with their resolution writing. We also had a little fun with our party horns before we attached them to our resolution portraits. I feel sorry for the class next door...we had a lot of fun with those horns:)

HO HO HO Ornaments

I totally forgot to post a picture of our parent gifts from Christmas...well better late than never:) Each of the students painted a Santa Claus ornament. They turned out super duper cute!
This is one of the last things we did before Christmas break. The kids also made a reindeer card to go with their gift, but somehow I missed getting a picture of those:(

Merry Christmas!

We had our class Christmas party on Monday, December 17th. The kids were SUPER DUPER excited so we had to find some fun activities to keep us busy until party time:) To start things off, we had pizza for lunch! Thanks to great parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles that donated to our Fall Festival King and Queen jar we had plenty of pizza to fill us up:)

After recess, the students got to look at all the treats in their goody bag. Then each student received a present from me to open - I always give books:)

The last thing we did was decorate an edible tree. This turned out to be quite tricky, but we did manage to get all 16 trees (waffle cones) decorated and they were all quite interesting! The best part was seeing the kids eat them:) All in all, I think our party was a success. Thanks to all the parents that sent supplies and helped out with the tree decorating.
